Distractions and Dilemmas.

We don't have to look very far before seeing distractions; before whispers become noise, a glimmer of light turns to a glare, a small opportunity of hope is twisted into a humungous heap of work, a simple favour churns itself into a tortuous task.
And let's not forget the music, movies, dance, art, books, singing, writing, creating, designing... the list goes on, the distractions go on.
We don't have to look very far before seeing distractions; good or bad, they're there. Look to your left, to your right, step into the other room, go around the corner... they're there. They're everywhere.
Sometimes we can even make the mistake of going off in a direction we think is the right one, doing something we think we should be doing- only to find out it was a distraction all along! There was nothing particularly wrong with it, it was even a good thing we were doing but it wasn't the right direction, the right path. This is something I myself have learnt recently. It's so easily done and I thank the Lord that He can guide our footsteps!
The dilemma of knowing what is a distraction and how much of something is a distraction, can be hard at times. Keeping our eyes focused on Christ and putting Him in the centre of everything we do is a good starting point. If God is in the middle of everything we do, then when we become distracted, there will be a gentle nudging and pulling that will bring us back to where we're supposed to be.
If we're bringing our lives to Him daily, then He will steer us where we're meant to go. We will feel the guidance of the Holy Spirit and we will eventually realise whether something is a distraction or not.
The hustle and bustle of life is constant and all consuming if we allow it to be. But giving God chance to work in our lives by giving Him a bit of our daily lives, can help to keep us going in the right direction and help us with our distractions and dilemmas.
Keep going and stay strong!
